Digital storytelling is on the rise. More people are feeling empowered to lend their voice to current affairs, share life experiences, and educate or teach their audiences something valuable. One popular platform for digital storytelling is podcasts. According to a report by Reuters, more than 475 million people actively tune into podcasts globally. For creators, podcasting is an impactful medium for storytelling. They can journey with listeners throughout their day, and the intimacy of audio allows the listener to immerse themselves in someone else’s world.
At ADMF, we are passionate about empowering Kenyan youth to tell African stories authentically. 60 of them recently completed our fully sponsored 6-month incubator program in partnership with Goethe-Institut and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ); 15 of this cohort were podcasters. They learned technical and production skills and creative skills such as storyboarding and went on to produce intriguing episodes. You may not have heard about these podcasts before, but we guarantee that they’re worth a listen. Whether you want to binge listen while cleaning, commuting, showering, settling in after a long day, or hunkering down for a flight or road trip, we guarantee these podcasts will do wonders to pass the time.
