Earlier this year the Africa Digital Media Foundation entered into a partnership with the Africa Leadership Initiative East Africa Foundation (ALI-East Africa) to host the regional leadership program out of our Nairobi office. Africa Leadership Initiative East Africa Foundation serves as a catalyst for participatory engagement on matters of significance to the African continent, deepening the pool of influential, effective and ethical leaders across Africa prepared to assume personal responsibility and collective accountability for the development and governance of Africa for the good of all her people. ALI-East Africa is affiliated with the Aspen Global Leadership Network and with the McNulty Foundation.
The Aspen Global Leadership Network is a growing, worldwide community of entrepreneurial leaders from business, government and the nonprofit sector — currently more than 2,800 “Fellows” from over 60 countries — who share a commitment to enlightened leadership and to using their extraordinary creativity, energy and resources to tackle the foremost societal challenges of our times.
ADMG Group CEO, Laila Macharia is herself an Aspen fellow, and brings her many years of entrepreneurial and leadership expertise to the ALI East Africa Foundation to lead it to greater heights over the months to come.
Previously the ALI East Africa Foundation was housed in Tanzania, under the leadership of Ali Mufuruki, the Founder and former Chairman of the ALI East Africa Foundation. Ali Mufuruki sadly passed earlier this year, leaving behind a legacy of impact, business success, and policy dialogue. ALi Mufuruki was the co-founder and chairman of the CEO Roundtable of Tanzania, a policy dialogue forum that brings together more than 100 CEOs of leading companies in Tanzania. He was also owner, Chairman & CEO of Infotech Investment Group LTD, a family business that has interests in ICT, media, telecoms, private equity, retail and real estate across a number of countries in Africa and beyond. In addition, he held numerous board positions, including Chairman of Vodacom Tanzania, and Chairman of Trademark East Africa.
ALI East Africa Foundation will be hosting regional panels, international conferences, and in-depth discussion around topics that matter to leaders, and promote self-awareness and social awareness. Follow ALI-EA on Facebook to stay up to date.
